Set your children up for a lifetime of excellent oral care.

Your child’s dental health starts at home. Making oral care a priority for the whole family is important to ensuring your children will have a healthy attitude toward their dental health.

Brushing can be fun and should begin as soon as your child’s first tooth erupts. Use a pea-sized amount of children’s toothpaste and a soft-bristled brush to begin brushing. As your child grows, go over proper brushing technique with them so they can begin to take ownership of their care. It is also important for parents to limit sugary foods and liquids and encourage healthy eating habits for a healthy smile.

It is recommended that children should visit the dentist for the first time around the age of one, or after the first tooth erupts. This allows your child to build a relationship with the dental team and can ensure children have a healthy outlook towards dental visits.

What to expect at a first visit

Your child’s first dental visit can be a bit daunting, for both parent and child. But the team at SmileCare Dental is committed to ensuring your comfort throughout your visit. At the first visit, Dr. Mark and his team will:
